As innovation in information and communication becomes ever more essential
for business, public administration, public safety and commercial needs, a
vast number of new technologies are being developed. Security is nowdays
taken into account since the design phase and not introduced after the
adoption of a technology. In fact, a correct use of security for providers
or vendors in services or products is proving to deliver a positive return
on investment.

Security standards, sometimes in support of legislative actions, are
essential to ensure interoperability between products using the same
security mechanisms, to provide globally acceptable security metrics, as
well as to ensure an adequate level of security for these products.

*ETSI is hosting the 3rd ETSI Security Workshop
