VOIPSEC readers,
Late last night I posted Blue Box Podcast #56:
http://www.blueboxpodcast.com/2007/04/blue_box_56_voi.html
With this episode, Jonathan and I are starting to include a new segment
where we give a "mini-tutorial" on a particular topic related to best
practices. In this episode, we covered voice encryption. In the next
(already recorded yesterday) episode, we cover call signaling encryption.
Basically trying to answer briefly why you need to be concerned and what
the major ways are to address the issue. We're going to continue that
segment over the next episodes. We also cover the usual review of VoIP
security news, listener comments, etc.
One note - proving that I should be in bed at 10:45pm instead of posting
podcasts, I inadvertently deleted the link enclosure tag that clues
podcatchers (like iTunes) into which media file to download. As a result,
any of you who subscribe and had your podcatcher automagically download
last night will now have your very own copy of McAfee's Sage Journal PDF
file... but you won't have Blue Box #56. I fixed the link this morning,
but if you got the PDF file, you'll unfortunately have to manually
download or listen from the website.
A final note - Blue Box crossed a bit of a milestone this morning when we
had the 100,000th download of our episodes:
http://www.blueboxpodcast.com/2007/04/crossing_the_10.html
In the world of mainstream media, that number is hardly worth mentioning,
but in the new and emerging medium of podcasting it's something to mark.
Over our 74 episodes (including special editions), that averages out to
about 1,351 downloads per show (and it's higher on more recent shows)...
which, to me, does definitely speak to the power of the medium to reach
niche audiences.
Many thanks to all of you who have listened, commented and contributed in
so many ways. Jonathan and I continue to be delighted by the response
we've seen and are pleased with how it has helped (and continues to help)
further the mission of VOIPSA in stimulating discussion around VoIP
security.
Thanks,
Dan
