Hello,
I had a presentation that discussed the relation between QoS and
Security, but from a different perspective, at the following
conferences:
IP Voice Meeting, Portugal
http://www.codenomicon.com/media/code-news/2006-02-03.shtml
VON Spring 2006, San Jose
http://www.codenomicon.com/media/code-news/2006-03-01.shtml
I can send the presentation and more information for those who are
interested.
Our RTP test tool would also be interesting in these types of
research. But if you do not have access to Codenomicon tools, you can
try the same tests also easily with the free PROTOS test-suite.
In short, security attacks have an impact on the devices and software
on the route. If a proxy or media gateway hangs even for a
milli-second while processing the anomalous packets, it will delay
other media streams. If it crashes, all other media streams are
DoS:ed (which is quite bad from QoS perspective). ;)
/Ari
