I would like to get started on this section since I will have ample time
the next couple of weeks. I have consulted with a few coworkers and we
came up with a quick list of best practices for general physical
security. Please see the below list and make any suggestions or
criticisms. Thanks.

* Steel door into the server room. A good strong door can stop
anyone from forcing their way into a room.

* Windows are not recommended, but if there are any they should
be at head level if designing the room or if they already exist in a
room there should be wire mesh as a security measure incase the window
is broken into. In addition, anything that is important should be
outside of an arm's reach incase the window is broken.

* There should be multiple layers of physical security. For
example there should be a minimum of two doors that are locked in order
to get physical access to the equipment. This can include a locked door
with keycard access and a locked cabinet in which the equipment is
contained. The more layers the better.

* Try to make the server room inconspicuous so it becomes hard
for anyone to locate it without already knowing where it is.

Again these are just a few suggestions I got from friends who work in
the security industry for the military and government. Hopefully this
will be enough to get the ball rolling.
