I’ve recently been using Google Trends for some research, and find it an interesting tool for, well, trending. Doing a Google Trends profile of VoIP Security shows an interesting tailing-off. So what’s the story? Is this just another case of “it’s all the same, nobody cares” in action?

Obviously, my change of research focus scope away from just VoIP a couple years ago has had a dramatic impact (:
I thought maybe newer terms like “UC security” might be getting more use, but they’re not even registering enough to feed a Google Trends graph as of today. I’m not seeing new VoIP security startups anymore, or new service or consulting offers there, and these were a big buzz generator in the past.
