Update on the Aircell / VoIP-on-a-plane prohibition - and an Aircell response...

After my two posts on Tuesday explaining how Aircell was probably blocking VoIP and then why the Phweet/Tringme worked (temporarily), there have been a number of other posts that should be mentioned here:

Luca,

Thanks for the comment and it's interesting to know that you use TCP, too. As to Phweet, yes, the Flash softphones call into the conference bridge. Phweet can have connections into its conference bridge from the Flash client (from Tringme), from SIP phones or for regular phones. For SIP or regular phones it can be configured to dial out to you, but for the Flash client you have to click on the widget button to initiate the call, so the call path is going from your client to the conference bridge.

The hypothesis about TCP could be right. TCP is usually involved when a firewall is blocking UDP and the technique my company uses (for our softphones) is the so-called TCP-tunnelling. On the other hand, I'd like to know how the call works in this case .. do Phweet clients call a conference bridge? Or is the conference bridge which reaches all the clients involved?
